Thimphu, Bhutan 11th Aug 2015: K-Electric FC played its first match of the Asian Football Confederation Cup Qualifiers which are being held in Bhutan and drew with Bhutan’s Druk FC 3-3.
K-Electric’s press statement said that K-Electric FC was representing Pakistan in the AFC Qualifiers after lifting the Pakistan Premier League earlier this year and took the lead in the first half after their striker Rasool scored from a brilliant finish. However, minutes later, Druk United FC equalized from a set-piece drawing the score 1-1 in a match which witnessed rain. Press statement added that just before the half-time K-Electric FC’s striker Rasool scored another goal to take the Pakistani Club ahead. The first half finished 2-1.
Second half started with both sides trying hard and both teams opened each other up with clever play. However, Druk United FC improved their scoreboard by scoring 2 consecutive goals to take the lead over K-Electric FC. Team KE came back to score the third goal to draw the match level at 3-3.
K-Electric FC’s President and Chief of Marketing K-Electric, Usama Qureshi said, “Great performance from the team! Congrats to all for getting the first points in Asia. This is a proud moment for us and our football team as we are representing Pakistan at this tournament. it was our first match and the team gelled well against the home side on difficult conditions”.
Zabe, head of sports marketing for K-Electric said ‘the passion of the team was electric, we kept on attacking and never lost hope even after going down a goal after leading twice. Our players played on an artificial pitch on heavy rain for the first time with a hostile crowd against us’.
K-Electric FC will be playing there second qualifier against Mongolia’s Khormomkhom FC on Thursday. With today’s experience behind them, the team is hoping for a positive result in the must win situation qualifying match.
