Famous Boltan Market, Plastic Markets and Saddar areas raided with on the spot penalties charged to culprits
Karachi, Jan 28, 2016: K Electric has provided details of its ongoing Operation Burq campaign where different areas of Karachi were raided which included Saddar, Gulistan e Johar, Orangi, Lyari, Baldia, Gadap, Uthal, SITE amongst others. Almost 17,000 illegal connections were pulled down and confiscated from different areas whereas these illegal connections (Kunda wires) weighed over 1000 KG. Several illegal connections were removed across the city where consumers were involved in direct electricity theft and using a heavy load.
During the raids in the area of Saddar a sweet shop, Dehli Darbar sweets was caught red handed where no meter found at premises and electricity was in direct use. In another raid in the area of Aram Bagh a furniture shop, (Mama furniture) was raided where electricity was used through illegal means. Penalty was charged in this case and line was disconnected on the spot. Illegal electricity connections were removed in the areas of Urdu Bazar, Naz Plaza, Jinnah Plaza, Bizerta Lane Hijrat Colony, Sultanabad.
Residential project, Foundation blessings situated in block 2 Gulistan e Johar was raided and several KUNDAS were removed. In another vigilant attempt electricity discrepancies were removed from Allahabad, Awami, Bhittai, Bilal Colony areas of Korangi. An stitching/ garments unit and a hotel was raided by KE’s Team where electricity was used illegally. On the spot payments were seen in these cases. Approximately 36 kg of telephone recovered and 54 illegal hooks connections were removed in a kunda drive in blocks 15 and 9 of Federal B Area.
In a parallel attempt against the KUNDA Mafia around 280 KUNDAS of 145 kg weight were removed in the area of Boltan Market and Plastic Market.
Spokesperson KE added, “During the Operation Burq raids we are targeting the Kunda Mafia who persistently resort to having this illegal network and some of them have shown acute resistance to K Electric’s Anti-Kunda Drives”
