Karachi – June 1, 2016: K-Electric continues to carry its anti-theft operations without any discrimination across the city. KE’s team and law-enforcement agencies raided different localities of Gulistan-e-Johar including some abandoned schemes of Pehlwan Goth Block-09. Large amounts of illegal Direct Cable Wires and Hook connections were confiscated and notices were served to those involved.
Several residential houses were raided in different blocks of Gulistan-e-Johar and found to be involved in direct electricity theft. One residential consumer found using illegal cables to steal electricity was charged with a PKR 1 million penalty. Raids were also carried out in three abandoned schemes namely Citizen View, Peprani Comforts and Sun Beam located at Pehlwan Goth. Power to these buildings was being drawn illegally from a nearby PMT. The illegal connection was terminated and KE teams pasted penalty notices to the residents of these three buildings who are already defaulters of around PKR 40 Million.
While discussing about the operation against power theft, KE’s spokesperson said, “Kundas are the single largest menace that causes trips and faults. KE is conducting an anti-theft drive across the city to remove illegal connections. We are grateful to Media and Law Enforcement Agencies for their ongoing support and to the Government of Pakistan for making electricity theft a punishable crime. This has enabled us to send a strong message to defaulters and electricity thieves.”
