K-Electric Press Release – 9.9.2014 | KE Becomes First Corporate to sponsor women’s football in Pakistan; MoU signed between KE and Baloch United Women’s Football Club‏

Karachi, 9th September 2014: K-Electric was pleased to announce that the company has become the first corporate to sponsor a women’s football club. An MoU signing ceremony was held at the KE House and the signing took place between K-Electric (KE) and BUFC (Baloch United Women’s Football Club).

This goes in line with KE’s vision of supporting the youth and giving them a platform to perform on.

K-Electric CEO, Nayyer Hussain on this occasion said, “Women should also be given the same opportunities as men, and KE will work with BUFC’s women’s team in order to support them in all ways possible’.

BUFC’s women’s team President, Rubina Irfan on this occasion added, “It is a privilege to have KE as a sponsor and supporter, we would ensure that the team gives 200% instead 100% in order to achieve success in women’s football”.

Giving details the press statement added that KE will support BUFC’s women’s team through providing assistance in the area of coaching, training and providing football equipment.

Balochistan United Women’s Football Club was formed in 2008 and is a Karachi based club having young girls from Karachi and Balochistan. The club won the National Women’s Championship after defeating WAPDA 7-0 whereas the 11 BUFC women team members are also in the Pakistan national camp. Balochistan United’s manager was also appointed as the manager of the National Team. The team is also the first women’s club to buy a foreign player from the Maldives and KE is proud to be associated with a club having ambitions.

KE has been promoting football amongst other sports in different localities and the recent Lyari League speaks for itself. Since K-Electric through its electrical network covers almost 6 districts of Balochistan, KE saw this as a great opportunity to promote women’s football from that region.
