Karachi, October 7, 2016: K-Electric recently removed illegal kunda connections in Madina Town, Korangi in line with its commitment to eliminate power theft and reduce line losses.
The utility also offered on spot low-cost meters with Aerial Bundled Cable (ABC) infrastructure after necessary documentation to the residents. ABC infrastructure is kunda-resistant and therefore help curb electricity theft while also enhancing the reliability of electricity supply. Installation of ABC coupled with new low-cost meters as part of its flagship community development project ‘Ujala’ which has been rolled out with an estimated investment of PKR 5 billion to empower 1 million lives in 200 communities by June 2017.
According to KE spokesperson, “Madina Town was infested with illegal wiring and theft, also causing faults and tripping in adjoining areas. This drive will enable the provision of reliable power supply to the residents through legal electricity connections and also help enhance load management in surrounding areas.”
KE focuses on continuous process improvements and several projects are being explored to achieve greater efficiency and energy loss reduction such as installation of Aerial Bundled Cabling, Smart Meter Initiative, Mobile Meter reading and many more.
