Karachi, 17th October, 2015: K-Electric’s football team departed yesterday for Bangladesh to participate in the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup scheduled to take place from the 20th to 30th October.
The international tournament includes 8 teams from four nations: India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan. This is the second stage on the road to the Asian Federation Cup 2016 which will be held in January, and the winning team will become eligible to play in the final stage. KE FC earned a spot in the tournament after emerging victorious in the pre-qualifiers at Bhutan, where they beat Mongolia’s Khormomkhon FC.
The team will be playing three matches in the group stages. The first match is scheduled for the 21st of October against India’s Kingfisher East Bengal Club. Their next match will be on the 23rd of October against Bangladesh’s Dhaka Abahani followed by another match against Chittagong Abahani on the 25th of October.
Commenting on the occasion, Chief Executive Officer K-Electric, Tayyab Tareen said, “this is a tremendous achievement for not only KE but also Karachi and Pakistan. The players have shown an exemplary performance and their determination and commitment are extremely commendable.
