Residential and Commercial areas in Orangi, Saddar and Clifton raided due to electricity theft, a famous restaurant sealed by FIA in North Nazimabad – KE Spokesman
Karachi, June 5, 2015: Operation Burq, KE’s campaign against defaulters and thieves continues with some positive results where residential and commercial thieves were targeted. Releasing the details of the ongoing Operation it was told that the Law enforcing Agencies along with KE’s team raided different residential and commercial spots against heavy defaulters and Electricity thieves.
According to KE’s press statement, Currently 18 raids were conducted and almost 6600 illegal connections were removed weighing over 2800 KG. More than 100 field staff participated in these raids with the help of FIA and Rangers in the areas where KE used to face resistance before. Areas that were raided included Orangi, Saddar, FB Area, Surjani, Shah Faisal, Landhi, Johar, KIMZ, Malir, amongst others.
In a recent Operation a famous restaurant Choudhry Mateen (Mateen Foods) in the vicinity of North Nazimabad Block G raided with FIA and police where electricity was used illegally. The restaurant was sealed by FIA immediately and concerned persons were taken into custody. In other raids around the area of North Nazimabad a hospital, a poultry farm and a drug store was raided and concerned persons were taken into custody.
Three PMTs were disconnected in Korangi Jumma Goth area during a raid due to heavy default. A residential premises in Clifton area was also raided, and was charged with penalty and investigation commences. In another raid along with the police a commercial consumer belonging to Orangi area was charged with penalty and on the spot payment was made in this case.
It is worth mentioning that with the support of police and Rangers, KE teams have successfully removed the KUNDAs (illegal connections) in the vicinity of Baldia and Surjani. Weighting more than 1000 KG of Kundas have been removed in a single raid on Thursday night.
