Karachi, September 9, 2025: Karachi received moderate to heavy rain as the monsoon spell continued for a third successive day on Tuesday with K-Electric’s (KE) network displaying its resilience and stability across the generation, transmission, and distribution segments.
Power supply across Karachi largely continued uninterrupted and, at the peak of the rainfall, less than 200 feeders out of a network of over 2,100 saw temporary outages, primarily as a precautionary measure to ensure customer safety and network integrity. Impacted feeders were being swiftly restored as ground teams, working in close coordination with civic authorities, gave clearance.
Meanwhile, Imran Rana, KE spokesperson, stressed on the importance of adhering to safety protocols, and stated, “We strongly urge citizens to maintain safe distance from electrical infrastructure during rains including poles, electricity meters, service brackets, broken and tangled internet/cable wires. Internal wiring and water motors should not be operated with wet hands or in standing water. Only certified electricians should be engaged in case of electrical faults within households.”
His remarks come after there were three unfortunate electrocution incidents reported in the city by evening on Tuesday.
“The incident in Ayub Goth, Gadap Town, is tragic; and our heartfelt condolences are with the family,” said the K-Electric spokesperson. “Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident took place inside a shop, and K-Electric infrastructure was not involved,” the K-Electric spokesperson added.
“The unfortunate incident in Khawaja Ajmer Nagri is extremely tragic, and our heartfelt condolences are with the family”, said K-Electric spokesperson. According to initial investigations, the incident occurred over the resident’s internal wiring, and K-Electric’s infrastructure was not found involved, the spokesperson further added.
Meanwhile, in Shah Faisal, the incident occurred during a theft attempt on KE infrastructure, according to preliminary findings, the KE spokesperson added.
KE emphasises that public safety is its top priority during the monsoon season. For electricity safety-related emergencies, citizens can call the 118 helpline. Updates on restoration timelines and service status are available through KE’s official social media channels, WhatsApp self-service, and the KE Live app.
