Karachi, December 18, 2025: K-Electric (KE) strongly condemns the violent attack on its field team during an anti-theft operation in Khamiso Goth, North Karachi. The team was working to remove illegal connections that compromise public safety and disrupt power supply to law-abiding customers.
During the operation, a mob attacked KE staff, causing serious injury to one employee and damaging equipment. The injured team member was immediately shifted to a hospital for treatment. An FIR has been registered, and KE is coordinating with law enforcement agencies to ensure strict action against those responsible.
Illegal connections in the Khamiso Goth continue to pose significant challenges. Losses on the affected feeder currently stand at 40%, equivalent to approximately 3.4 million units annually. Despite weekly kunda removal drives, these connections reappear quickly, highlighting the urgent need for stronger support from law enforcement and city administration to achieve a permanent solution.
Commenting on the incident, KE spokesperson Imran Rana said, “We strongly condemn acts of aggression against our teams, who work under challenging conditions to ensure safe and reliable electricity for Karachi. Violence against utility staff endangers lives and disrupts essential services for paying customers.”
Such attacks hinder critical operations like localised fault rectification and power restoration, impacting communities and posing serious risks to both workers and the public. KE remains committed to combating electricity theft, improving recovery, and engaging communities through awareness initiatives. The safety of its employees remains non-negotiable.
