KE Continues Crackdown Against Electricity Theft, Removes 160kg of Illegal Connections in Rind Goth, Bin Qasim Town

Karachi, January 12, 2026: In order to reduce distribution loss, K-Electric (KE) continued its operation against electricity theft, removing 80 illegal electricity connections weighing nearly 160kg from unmetered commercial shops and hotels connected to a PMT in Karachi’s Rind Goth, Bin Qasim Town.

Electricity was being unlawfully drawn by these commercial establishments, resulting in significant financial and technical losses. Despite repeated kunda removal drives, annual theft of around 112,000 units was being reported, translating to a financial loss of PKR 4.4 million. Distribution loss in the area stands at 40%, meaning two of every five units were being stolen.

“A FIR was registered,” said the KE spokesperson. “KE reiterates the power utility’s commitment to eliminating illegal electricity connections and improving the profile of high-loss areas to ensure reliable and uninterrupted power supply for paying customers. KE also urges consumers to use only legal, metered connections installed by authorised KE staff and to ensure timely bill payments to support system stability.”

Community leaders and residents are encouraged to cooperate in clearing outstanding dues and to report electricity theft through KE’s digital platforms or via email at speakup@ke.com.pk.
