Electricity supply normal at all water pumping stations, leakage from pipelines creates impediment to repair work: KE spokesperson

Karachi, 21st November 2025: K-Electric spokesperson said power supply at KW&SC’s pumping stations is normal.

The spokesperson added that water leaking from the Water Board’s pipelines causes underground power cables to become submerged, which damages the power infrastructure that supplies electricity to them.

The continuous leakage from the Water Board’s lines was formally reported to the relevant authorities through an official letter on 10 November 2025, and prior to that, in June 2025, the Water Board had also been formally notified about the leakage.

Due to the standing water, it becomes extremely difficult and time-consuming to repair faults in underground cables in a timely manner.

The spokesperson added that the stagnant water also causes other issues including growth of bushes, making testing or fault correction more difficult. Additionally, work cannot be carried out in standing water due to safety concerns for the staff.
