With the draw today between Bhutan and Mangolia, Team KE has retained the top spot to qualify for the AFC Cup 2016: Spokesperson
Thimphu, Bhutan August 15, 2015: K-Electric issued a press statement in which the company stated that K-Electric Football Club had qualified for AFC Cup 2016.
The statement further added that Team KE had beaten Mangolia’s KhoromKhon FC in their last game to earn the vital points to take the lead in the group. However Team KE was reliant on the game between Druk United and Khoromkhon FC to know their fate in Asian football’s second-tier club tournament. With the draw between Druk United and Khoromkhon FC last night, Team KE reserved their place in the Asian Federation Cup to be held in 2016. Team KE led the qualifying group with 4 points followed by Bhutan with 2 and Mangolia managing to score only 1.
Majid Shafiq, KE Football Club, Coach said, ‘The goal when I took over the coaching job was not only to take the team into the AFC Cup but to change the culture within Pakistani football by taking steps off the field as well, right now I am proud to say that all these efforts have shown the result and we are amped up for the AFC Cup in January 2016’.
