A Signing Ceremony Was Held Between KE and Various Stakeholders of Sadr Cooperative Market for New Meter Installation: Spokesperson
Karachi, March 9th, 2016: K-Electric is pleased to announce that the power utility will provide new connections to the Cooperative Market located in Saddar where previously more than 1,000 shops had no electricity connection and resorted to illegal use of electricity in the major commercial complex of the old city area . This structure had been in existence since 1960 with the basement and ground floors already having connections but it were the upper floors which had been constructed later on in the 90s, where the builder had fled without formally applying for metered connections causing problems for the commercial users in that area. However, K-Electric along with authorities and stakeholders of the said market, KCCI and other bodies signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with an aim to install new meters at the major commercial complex so as to resolve this prolonged issue.
With this initiative at hand, all the shops would have a proper metered system, substantially increasing the market’s worth around the area. Under this program, the power utility will facilitate existing 325 and an additional 800 customers with registered meters.
On this occasion, KE’s spokesperson said, “This is one of the landmark achievements that will significantly decrease the tripping in the area. The purpose of this initiative is to provide relief to the consumers while ensuring uninterrupted power supply to the area. We want our beloved consumers to step forward and sit with us so that we resolve similar issues because it is a common practice where the builder of any project without submitting proper documents flees and creates hurdles for such consumers”.
