Karachi: On Friday, January 23, 2026, K-Electric will conduct annual maintenance on two of the thirteen feeders at the Dhabeji Pumping Station. During the maintenance activity, power supply to 20 out of the 22 pumping motors at the station will remain uninterrupted. The maintenance shutdown will include various electrical testing activities, including 11 kV circuit breakers, along with other technical works. All maintenance shutdowns are carried out in coordination with the Water Corporation to ensure that Karachi does not face any water shortages, said a K-Electric spokesperson.
Equating maintenance and technical faults with load-shedding is incorrect. Such shutdowns are essential to provide a safe working environment for engineers and to ensure the efficient performance of high-voltage electrical equipment that supports uninterrupted power supply to large areas.
